Promise 5 - Service Council
The National Summit was hosted by the Family and Youth Services Bureau of the US Administration for Children and Families. It brought together 2000 youth leaders and the adults to learn how to make significant changes in communities. Participants learned how to impact power structures, identify needs and raise money for significant projects, become powerful leaders for serving the community, and understand how to become a change agent.

A network was established to keep track of new friends made during the many fun activities which included the construction of a one-of-a-kind art project, a poetry café, karaoke night, and watching an illusionist.

The Service Council will be recruiting eight (8) new members through December, 2005. Members represent service organizations, congregations, and clubs. Individuals are also welcome. The Council sets guidelines and standards for community service- learning projects and may provide funds and training as requested. The goal is to engage 200 new persons in service activities before June, 2005. Membership is intergenerational (all ages) and family membership is becoming a popular option. Open Council meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at Sugar Sand Park. Contact: 561-750-4810.
