PBSC Promotes Mental Health

Posted March 6th, 2014

On Saturday March 1, Boca Raton held its 1st Health and Wellness Experience at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. Two stages, rows and rows of vendor tents and hundreds of sunny day participants. We found only 3 organizations out of about 100, who represented Mental Health issues. Two were Addiction facilities and the other was the Palm Beach State College Mental Health Student Organization. The student group was invited by City officials to maintain a post at the main entrance to remind everyone that Mental Health Matters in Boca Raton. Mental Health resources were provided by the Boca Raton's Promise and the Palm Beach County Action Alliance for Mental Health.

Special Performance of Anti-Bullying work    Shows Effects of Bullying at School, home and community.

(West Palm Beach, FL) – An original student musical performance aimed at preventing bullying has come to Palm Beach County Schools. All school principals and top administrators with the School District of Palm Beach County meeting at Palm Beach Lakes High School saw a special performance of “The Weight of Words”, an original work written and performed by students of the 2011 Nova High School under the direction of the Lovewell Creative Arts Institute. The project was developed in cooperation with the Broward School Office of Prevention.

“I think this performance is fantastic,” said Cheryl Alligood, Chief Academic Officer, School District of Palm Beach County. “Kids will respond in a more positive way about bullying and all these sensitive issues when they are hearing these important messages from their peers.
